From La Malagueta to Gibralfaro
Cruza Málaga is a hopping game across the real Málaga: about three kilometres from the breakwater at La Malagueta to the gate of Gibralfaro castle, 132 metres above the sea. On the way: pedal boats and inflatable flamingos, the beach bars, the seafront bike lane, the traffic on Paseo de la Farola, the cruise groups on Muelle Uno, the fountains of the Paseo del Parque, the traffic lights of Plaza de la Marina, the crowds of Calle Larios, the one-towered Cathedral and, last of all, the walled climb to the castle.
On Muelle Uno stands La Farola, since 1817 the only lighthouse in mainland Spain with a feminine name. Calle Larios opened in 1891. The Roman Theatre dates from the 1st century and lay buried until 1951. Gibralfaro castle was built in the 14th century under Yusuf I to guard the Alcazaba, to which a walled path joins it.
How to play
Tap to hop forward, swipe to step sideways or back. Do not stand still: fall behind and a gull takes you. Yellow triangles at the edge warn of something fast about to come in; at Plaza de la Marina the crossing beeps faster just before the cars move off. On the climb a gull’s shadow grows before it dives, and the terral, the hot wind from inland, shoves you a tile with every gust.
The daily ranking
Everyone walks the same route each day, so the ranking is fair, and every flip-flop on the ground marks where someone was caught today. Pick a nickname to appear on the board (the same one as in the other Málaga.is games); you need no account. Every game is replayed on our server, so only real metres count. Share your run and your figure hops beside whoever takes up the challenge, as a ghost.
What the game stores is explained in the privacy policy.
